Symphonic Birthday Celebration<\/h2>\n

Celebrating its 60th anniversary with magnificent music \u2013 that was the goal of the Thurgau Youth Orchestra (JOTG) under the direction of Gabriel Estarellas Pascual. It worked, our author thinks.<\/h4>\n

It was as if Ludwig van Beethoven had invited us to a tea dance and already had his sights firmly set on the future of Johann Strauss. The opening bars of his Symphony No. 8, Op. 93, resounded so magnificently, wittily, and invitingly at the Thurgau Youth Orchestra’s concert \u2013 in 3\/4 time and with plenty of “brio,” the inimitable verve of the “Viennese by choice” from the “Sturm und Drang” period.
